Los Angeles Daily News, Passed from here on earth to be in the Light and Comfort of the Lord on Monday December 10, 2012 at 80 years. Born in Utah to Bernice and Gilbert Moss, he was quite young when the family moved to California . Gilbert, better known to most as Byron, attended Eagle Rock High School. He went into the Marines straight from High School, and was with a Marine Transport Division in the Korean War. After his discharge, he drove a delivery truck, went to College and married his first wife Judith. They had two lovely daughters Gretchen & Gaylin. Early on he worked for LAPD, then with Bank of America in the loan department from which he retired, at the same time working as a sales representative - first in pharmaceuticals and then in nutritional formulations for health professionals. He also worked within the fields of his passions…which were body building, health and fitness…running Hollywood’s Vic Tanny Gym, and singing. He graced the ears of all who heard him with a big, rich bass-baritone voice, with which he sang both grand opera, songs from musicals and popular ballads around the Southern California area. He then met and married his second wife Frances, also a singer. He had a very active, slightly off-the-wall sense of humor and a smile that lit up the room….His heroes were body builder John Grimmick, comedic actor W.C. Fields, Italian tenor Enrico Caruso and Lawrence Tibbett... a great American baritone. He is survived by his daughter Gretchen, wife Frances and step-children Jeannie & Richard, grandchildren Kyra, Daniel & Jeaninne and great grandson Noah. Byron was captivating, unique & unforgettable and will be missed by many. Memorial service will be held on Friday December 21, 2012 at 7:30pm at HOPE Christian Fellowship Church. Located at: 6116 North San Gabriel Blvd. San Gabriel, CA 91775. Phone: (626) 287-9997
